Trolling Report

Welcome to Crowley Lake Fish Camp! Trolling action has been Wide open Lots of nice fish are showing up since opener. The water levels are extremely high, this has the trout spread out. So you
want to troll long passes. Water temps have been 60-65 degrees. Trout are holding in 20
to 40 feet of water fishing down around 30ft. (5 to 6 colors on lead core) Hot spots have been
the 395 side between west shores and McGee Bay, in about 30 feet of water, fishing down 25 to 30 feet
(4 or 6 colors on lead core). Sandy point to McGee Bay is fishing well in about 40 feet of water. Trolling
down 30 feet (5 or 6 colors). Best lures have been frog or brown trout Needle fish, frog or brown trout
Thomas Bouyant. Pink, Bloody Ripper, or Bleeding Frog Tasmanian Devil. Rapalas are of course always
worth a try.

Perch are starting to move into there spawning beds. Action is heating up. Fish in between 10 to 15 feet of water, at a slow troll (1 to 1.5 mph) Or cast and retrieve slowly. Hot spots have been Layton springs, Sandy Point, McGee ,or west shores. Hilton bay is also holding Perch. Best baits are Berkley Power grubs, in brown white, or chartreuse. Tip them with a crappie nibble, and let the fun begin.

Fly Fishing Report

The bite has really taken off in the last week. Some days you can get 20 to 30 fish to the net.  The fish are staying deep, in 30'+, finding most in the mornings around 35'.  They are also still feeding on the surface most of the morning.

There is not any place on the lake where fish are concentrated, they are still very spread out because of the high water levels. So your best bet is to go to places on the lake that are deep such as Stormy/Sometimes,  Christmas,  Layton even Big Hilton.

Algae has started to show up with the surface water temperatures up to 70° now. It's not bad yet.

Using Albino Midges about a foot off the bottom is working well.  Also damsel and leech patterns up higher will get the job done.  I would also suggest top water flies for when they are feeding on the surface, for a change the pace when fly fishing.

Bait and Spin Report

Welcome anglers!

Fishing Crowley lake has been really fun lately and continues to produce mix bags of trout and perch.
For trout anglers, fishing in 25-30 feet of water has been the best. Have your bait about a foot or two off the bottom. Carolina rigs are my go to here, 1/4 ounce egg sinker and 2-4 pound fluorocarbon leader is key.
Pinched crawlers and night crawlers have been the best bait. Sometimes I dip them in smelly sauce, it’s a personal preference and it works.
McGee bay, alligator point and Hilton have been great spots to check out. Remember to give other boats and anglers plenty of room, no need to fish on top of each other or drive to close to someone.
As for perch fishing, 8-15 feet of water has been producing. Small jigs topped with a crappie nibble is my go too. Lots of places to find perch. Grassy areas around alligator point, north arm and Hilton bay are good spots.

Good luck and tight lines
